Pema Tseden at age 11 or 12

This year I had another opportunity to contribute a translation to Yeshe, a journal of Tibetan literature, arts, and humanities. I chose an autobiographical piece by Pema Tseden, the acclaimed Tibetan writer and director of films such as Old DogTharloThe Search, and The Silent Holy Stones. Entitled “Three Photographs and the Days of My Youth,” it gives interesting insights into some of the people, places, and experiences that influenced Pema’s life and work. You can read it here.

This year I also had another opportunity to help out with some of the editing duties for the current issue of Yeshe, which allowed me to read several pieces on Tibetan culture, literature, and language. For anyone interested in Tibetan culture, it’s fascinating stuff.
